Thirumalai Charity Trust (TCT) was founded in 1970 by four businessmen who wanted to translate their belief "Social responsibility of business is not optional, but obligatory" into action. Dr. Bhooma has been primarily responsible for setting up and managing the programmes of the Trust since 1983.
Her Social Work background helped her initiate rural work with a community health programme. For more than two decades, she has been involved in de-addiction and rehabilitation of alcoholics, and organizing awareness and assistance programmes for the rural differently-abled people. A pioneer in Self Help Groups in Vellore District, she helped empower more than 30,000 women and offered programmes to improve the quality of life of their families.
She, along with her friends and family, founded the Thirumalai Mission Hospital as a unique model hospital for primary and secondary healthcare to offer accessible, affordable and quality healthcare.
Relying on her background and experience, by leveraging the medical expertise of the hospital, she has enabled the current primary healthcare activities in 315 villages in 50 panchayats, covering 160,000 people in 35,000 families in Vellore District.
Today, under her leadership, the TCT has streamlined its programs and focuses mainly on building an integrated health model and community volunteers. TCT is moving towards becoming a research institution. She manages all the activities of the Trust.
She was instrumental in setting up the three Vedavalli Vidyalaya Schools since 1994, which she helps manage till date. These schools have over 2300 children. She has been associated with several voluntary groups and associations.
She is a recipient of several awards for her service to poor communities and rural women. Her faith in volunteerism, women empowerment and community involvement has helped to shape TCT's programmes. Her strengths are in accessing right kind of help for the programmes and collaborating with other likeminded organizations.
Dr. Seshadri has an M.B.B.S. and M.D. (Gen Med)., from Madras University, a Ph.D., from Sydney University and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Since 1977, he has held various positions on and off at Christian Medical College, Vellore, beginning as Senior Research Officer, with his most recent post being the Head of Department of Endocrinology.
He is a highly decorated doctor, with awards and medals throughout his academic career. He has also authored over 100 papers, completed 24 competitive research grants, and is a reviewer of 5 medical journals. He is a very highly regarded teacher in the medical community and has been a professor of Medicine and Endocrinology at Christian Medical College, Vellore. He has extensive experience in research, having been involved in pharmaceutical trials with Eli Lilly, Pfizer and Clinigene, and published in the New England Journal of Medicine. He is a Life Member of various academic and professional bodies, including the Association of Physicians of India, the Endocrine Society of India, and Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India, Indian Clinical Epidemiology Network, and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Association of Physicians of India. He has dedicated more than twenty five years of his work to diabetes, endocrinology and metabolic disorders and has a keen interest to contribute to prevention of osteoporosis. He is the Medical Director of the Thirumalai Mission Hospital.

Dr. Kanagasabapathy began his career at Christian Medical College, Vellore in 1966, and retired as Professor and Head of Biochemistry. He has a long career in ensuring laboratory quality, teaching and research. He has guided 9 Ph.D. students, and has authored over 100 papers. He began the country's largest external quality assurance programme for laboratories, which now has 2000 participants. He is a fellow of the National Association of Clinical Biochemistry in the US, is deeply involved with the World Health Organization on various activities, and is on the advisory board of the journal of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry.
Dr. Kanagasabapathy was the Chairman of Technical Committee constituted by the NABL for formulating specific guidelines criteria for medical laboratories. He serves as an expert on various government boards and committees.
He is the Honorary Director, Lab services at Thirumalai Mission Hospital. He helps the management choose appropriate equipment. He trains technicians in all aspects of lab management, equipment use, maintenance, quality control and constantly works on reducing human errors. He is helping to ensure our clinical laboratory maintains its commitment to accuracy and quality. He is an enthusiastic teacher and is friendly in nature. The lab technicians gain a lot through their interactions with him. He is well aligned to the Mission and is an involved valuable member of the team.
Dr. Samuel Solomon acquired his M.B.B.S., D.Orth., and M.S.Orth.degrees from Christian Medical College, Vellore. Additionally he has an M. Phil., in Healthcare Administration from BITS Pilani. From 1981 to 2014, he has served with the Schieffelin Leprosy & Research Training Centre at Karigiri in various positions, including Deputy Director, 14 years as Head of Department of Training, and 15 years as Head of Department of Surgery and Surgical Rehabilitation, concurrent to serving as a Specialist and Consultant Surgeon.
He has expertise in both Orthopaedic and Leprosy reconstruction, and is the only surgeon today who can perform surgical reconstruction of any deformity in the area of leprosy rehabilitation. He has expertise in managing problems of diabetic foot. He has authored over 25 publications and has presented over 50 papers in a variety of fora. He was instrumental in computerization of the Karigiri institution, and set up the first Local Area Network there. He is the Deputy Medical Director of the Thirumalai Mission Hospital.

Dr. Lakshmi Seshadri has over 35 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and has served women and families in India, Australia and Brunei. Dr Lakshmi has an M.B.B.S. from Coimbatore College, where she won medals for Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and was the Best Outgoing Student. She received an M. D. in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Christian Medical College, Vellore, where she worked as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist on and off for over 25 years. She has a laudable career in research, and has been and continues to be involved in studies in menopause, oncology, human papilloma virus, cervical cancer, obstetric interventions, maternal health and reproductive health, etc. She is chief investigator or co-investigator in concluded and ongoing pharmaceutical trials, including with Eli Lilly, Ranbaxy, Pfizer, Centre for Research in Women's Health Toronto, etc. She has guided doctoral dissertations of over 18 candidates, and has authored 54 papers and 7 books. She is an active member of various academic bodies, including the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Studies of India, and is a member of its Oncology Committee. She is also a member of the International Gynecologic Oncologic Society. She continues her interest in osteoporosis, an area which she has worked on for over two decades. She is the Senior Consultant of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Thirumalai Mission Hospital.
A stickler for perfection, she ensures that the members of her team diligently follow all the protocols which she has laid down for patient care. She has initiated several programmes for the health of women. In her busy practice, she carries out many gynaecological surgeries and finds time to train younger medics and nurses. She adopts a practical approach to solve health problems of women which sometimes includes even counseling to spouses and families. She has a keen interest to attend to menopausal problems of women and infertility in women. She is an advocate for prevention of osteoporosis and preventive healthcare for women. She is an involved team member who offers immense value to our service.
Dr. Lavanya Jacob is a Paediatrician with over 30 years of experience in India and in the UK. Armed with an M.B.B.S. and a Diploma in Child Health from Christian Medical College Vellore, she received her MRCPCH from the Royal College of Physicians, London. Starting as a Paediatrician in Nagercoil and Karigiri, she has worked in the UK as a Senior House Officer and a Registrar in the National Health Service in Lincoln, London and Wales, managing neonatal, general and community paediatrics. She was also involved with the UNICEF programme in Vellore district between 2004-2006. Since 2008, she was in charge of the Paediatrics Unit at the SIHRLC, Karigiri, taking care of outpatients and inpatients in neonatal and general paediatrics, and conducting immunization clinics and health education activities. She has experience in teaching medical students, both in Christian Medical College, Vellore and Dr MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu. She is the Senior Consultant of Paediatrics at Thirumalai Mission Hospital.
She is a sympathetic listener and a kind doctor who is reassuring to the mothers. Dr. Achamma Balaraj did her M.B.B.S. and M.S., in Otorhinolaryngology from Christian Medical College. She has served as faculty in the department of ENT since 1989. Over the course of her career, she obtained a Diploma in Laryngology and Otology from the Royal College of Surgeons, England, and an M.Sc. in Audiological Medicine from University College, London.
She initiated a separate unit of audio-vestibular medicine in the CMC and nurtured it into a robust clinical, academic and research oriented unit offering post-doctoral fellowship in audio-vestibular medicine. Her involvement and guidance contributed to the excellent quality of the audio lab and the starting of diploma and degree courses in audiology, speech and language pathology. The universal neonatal hearing screening programme has been effectively introduced in CMC largely through Dr. Achamma's efforts. Dr. Achamma has to her credit, numerous publications in international and national peer reviewed journals. She has presented many research papers and has organized many workshops. She is a good teacher and has guided many research scholars. She is now a Consultant at Thirumalai Mission hospital.
Vertigo, hearing loss in children and adults are her areas of expertise. She is keen on helping children with hearing impairment and their mothers. She is a capable surgeon who can handle many E.N.T. surgeries. Her simple and unassuming nature enables patients and their family members to be very comfortable with and confident about her.
Dr. L. Santhanagopal has an M.B.B.S. from Arupadaiveedu Medical College and Hospital, Pondicherry and an M.S. in General Surgery from Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital, Chennai. He has worked at the Vellore Government College and Hospital as a Senior Resident, and served as Duty Medical Officer at Jawahar Hospital. He is trained in emergency, and elective, major and minor surgeries, and in laparoscopic surgeries. He has been with Thirumalai Mission Hospital since 2014.
He is an enthusiastic young person with good surgical skills. He has independently performed several major surgeries like hernia, fistula, haemorrhoids, piles, gall bladder excisions, removal of kidney stones, appendectomy, amputations, etc. with success. He also undertakes laparoscopic surgery that offers less discomfort for patients. He invites outside experts to work with him on some major surgeries.
Dr. G Manigandan has an M.B.B.S. from Govt. Mohan Kumara Mangalam Medical College and Hospital in Salem, and an M.D. in General Medicine from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and University, Pondicherry. He has presented 6 papers in various forums, including the 4 papers authored by him. He is fluent in Hindi. He is currently building his practice at the Thirumalai Mission Hospital.

Dr. W. S Ramesh Babu is a Doctor of General Medicine with over 40 years serving the local community in Vellore District. With an M.B.B.S. from Madras Medical College, Chennai, he served as a School Health Medical Officer in Vellore for over 10 years. He went on to do his Post-graduation in General Medicine at Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, and returned to Vellore District to serve in various capacities, including Medical Officer in-charge at Government Hospital Walaja, Senior Medical Officer at Sri Narayani Medical Hospital, Vellore and Medical Specialist at a Poly Clinic in Vellore. He is a part time consultant at Thirumalai Mission Hospital.

Dr. S Ramesh Kannan has an M.B.B.S. from Kathmandu Medical College. After a few years at Scudder Memorial Hospital, Ranipet, Sir Ivan Stedford Hospital, Ambattur, and Government service, he finished a PGMFM from Christian Medical College, Vellore. He has an M.D. in Pharmacology from Sri Manukula Vinayakar Medical College, Pondicherry. He works as an Assistant Professor at Madras Medical College during the week, and serves at our Thirumalai Mission Hospital over weekends, where he treats our walk-in patients with atmost care.

Dr. Kabilan graduated from Madras Medical College in 1984. He underwent a one-year Certificate Course in Diabetology. He started his career as a School Health Medical Officer and later worked as Medical Officer in Municipal Dispensaries in Villupuram and Vellore District. He retired as Civil Surgeon from Vellore City Municipal Corporation. He has been a private practitioner at Ranipet for many years. He has attended numerous training courses conducted by the Government during his career. He has been a regular resource person on health issues for training teachers and students at the District Institute of Education and Training for over a decade. He is a Life Member of the St. John's Ambulance Association.
He has been a volunteer enthusiast from his college days and has been available for many social, cultural and religious voluntary organizations as their Camp Doctor.
He has been recognized with the 'Best Doctor Award' by the Lions Club of Ranipet. He has contributed to health awareness by composing many awareness songs on health issues.
He has served as a volunteer at all our De-addiction camps since 1992, taking care of the medical problems of the alcoholics undergoing treatment. He is committed to the Cause of rehabilitation of alcoholics. He is now the visiting Senior Medical officer of the N. R. Swamy Centenary Rehab Centre at our Thirumalai Mission Hospital which treats alcoholics. His compassionate approach to alcoholics and their families reassures them a great deal. Dr. Suganya obtained her Bachelors in Dental Surgery from Tagore Dental College and hospital, where she gained a few years of experience as a dental surgeon. She has served as a dental surgeon at Sunitha Dental Clinic, Ranipet and as a senior dentist at Meenakshi Dental Clinic in Kaveripakkam. She is now in Thirumalai Mission Hospital.

Mrs. Lucy Samuel Solomon is a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with a Master's degree in Nursing. She started her career at Christian Medical College, Vellore as a Staff Nurse, and when she left 10 years later, in1987, she had an M.Sc., in Nursing, and was a Reader in Nursing responsible for the Midwifery courses in both degree and diploma programs, and was incharge of the Maternity Department. At the King Abdul Aziz University Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, she started the Quality Assurance Department, and served as the Quality Assurance Nurse. At the SLR&TC hospital in Karigiri, she served as Nursing Superintendent, before returning to the King Abdul Aziz University Hospital as Clinical Instructor, to improve educational and clinical activities. She retired as the Director of Nursing after a total period of about 22 years of service. She retired in 2012 to Karigiri.
She serves our Thirumalai Mission Hospital as a Nursing Consultant.
She has set up systems for standards in nursing care in our hospital and is engaged in training the nursing staff on the job. She has steered six-month training courses for Clinical Care Extenders and Multipurpose Assistants.
She is a motherly and caring figures for all the patients and their families, as also all the young staff of the hospital.
Dr. K. Baskar has an MBBS from Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar- Rajiv Gandhi University, Karnataka and M.D. in Emergency Medicine from Vinayaga Mission University, Salem. He has worked at Apollo KH Hospital, Ranipet, Vellore as department in-charge of Emergency and ICUs. He is good in handling all medical and surgical emergencies.
He has experience in managing all sick cases right from minor insect site to snake bite, poisoning, hanging, road traffic accidents and all critically ill patients.
Dr. S. Prem kumar received his MBBS degree from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute, Pondichery and went on to pursue DNB in paediatrics from Southern Railway HQ Hospital, Chennai. He is a life time member of Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP).
